Effect of Dual Task Program on Cognitive Function and Balance Ability in Elderly with Mild Cognitive Impairment

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on balance ability and cognitive function by applying dual task program that combines training in a sitting position with a computerized cognitive program for the elderly with mild cognitive impairment.

Methods : From August to September 2020, a dual task program and a day care center program were conducted for thirty five elderly people with mild cognitive impairment who are using day care center. The experimental group performed the dual task program combined with the day care center program and the control group performed the day care center programs. S-LICA, BBS and TUG were used as tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the elderly cognition function and balanced ability.

Results : There was a difference between the two groups participating in the study pre-test and post-test the intervention, but there was a significant difference in the experimental group. In the comparison between groups, the experimental group showed statistically significant differences in cognitive function and balance ability.

Conclusion : The dual task program is and effective intervention for improving cognition function and balance ability in the elderly using day care center.
